Carroll Shelby Celebrates 85th Birthday and Start of GT500KR Production

It's an age at which most people are enjoying bus trips, golf outings or their favorite tv show in a Lazy-Boy but not Carroll Shelby who turned 85 yesterday. Carroll is celebrating his big milestone in Las Vegas with a three-day party alongside Shelby owners and Mustang enthusiasts. The three day weekend event is taking place at Las Vegas Motor Speedway which includes open track and drag racing with a parts swap meet and chili cook off. Another reason for the big weekend is to mark the begining of production for 2008 Shelby GT500KR along with a reunion of new and old Shelby Hertz Mustang owners.

The photo above shows Shelby sitting on the Shelby GT500KR prototype car in which he personally drove around the track to test out.
