Another big announcement by
Ford this week at SEMA is they are putting into production an all-new Mustang FR500S race "spec" car at their AutoAlliance International Flat Rock, Michigan assembly plant. This Mustang FR500S is basicallly a team effort between Watson Engineering in Taylor, Michigan who is doing final interior work and ROUSH who will fine tune (dyno) the 4.6-liter 3-valve V8 engine being produced by Ford in Romeo, Michigan.
The
Ford Mustang FR500S race cars will be available from dealers at around $75K. The FR500S is intended for on track racing in the all-new Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup that will be held at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah.

It also shows how expensive even a spec racer can be, which is probably why such a microscopic percentage of the world's population participates in automobile racing.
OTOH, the FR500S might change all that...
