Ford is making a big mistake by not offering the Mustang outside North America. Between the UK and Australia I am sure the car would be a hit.
A few years ago, GM offered the Camaro/Firebird and Corvette in Europe so I am sure it wouldn't be that complicated to export it.

You are right, the Mustang is a hit outside the USA. I know, I export them. I hope Ford never tries to export them officially, I am having too much fun.

I actually own this S197 and picked it up on the 27th june 2007 and named her "Nadine". have had a few trips in it so far and really love it. for one of these on the road down under your looking at about 120k AUS extras .So yes keen you would have to be to get one as there are only about 30 or so on the road down under you don't see to many.
Cheers mate ! John Pony

RHD conversions can only be done in three places in australia, one is victoria and another is queensland
is cost of conversion is approx $47k.
The Uk also does conversions for approx $14kAUD
It would be best to import from them and you can probably get to the car to australia for under $60 for a $45k mustang.
im am in the process of gathering more information before i purchase if any one has any details please contact me dave@ece.com.au
I thought about converting mine to RHD. Id actually rather convert a 99-08 Crown Vic to right hand drive. Anyway mine is an 1981 mustang hatch and in the states are pretty rare but theres no aftermarket for 79-86 so I lok for OEM/NOS parts. There are some lights that I want(parking/Tail)for my car that only came on exported stangs email me for a picture of all the things im looking for J.Rhapsody@hotmail.com the parking lights are amber/white lenses and the tail lights are mike mine accept an orange blinker area.

Is the Shelby GT500 available in RHD version?
Man...this car rocks. But it's a pity that there is no RHD version. I can't find one. Someone please advice.

does anybody know where i can get my 08 gt shelby 500 converted in the usa or in australia naxos111@hotmail.com
Why pay the extra to have them converted to RHD? Here in the UK one company charges £5000 (US$10k) to do this. Why not save the money and sit on the left? Most S197 Mustangs in the UK are LHD anyway. To import a car into the UK can cost an extra £2000 to convert to UK spec anyway. (Unless you DIY of course www.mustangsva.co.uk)
Left Hand Drive is what nature (and the designers) intended. Why fix it if it aint broken?

You have to get in converted by law in most Australian states. Otherwise i'm sure no one would bother with it.
I am in the auto transport industry and am looking to buy a 2007 Shelby and have it converted from LHD to RHD. How would I find a buyer in Australia???

"Need Mustang in SA"
Nice blog! I am looking for a RHD Mustang GT from 2006 upwards in SA. Somebody mentioned a company in Manchester who converts? Is there a website or contact details anyone? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. I wouldn't mind driving a LHD but it's not legal in South Africa?! Cheers, J

Hey Jacque, we are a company that handles all of the import issues for new american vehicles into SA. There are some local guys that can perform the conversion for you in SA. As for the year of the car. SA wont allow you to import a mustang that isnt brand new. If you can find an 06 that has less thena 1,000 miles on it or can convince ITAC and SABS to issue the import and LOA for an 06 that is considered a collectors item, you may find some luck there. Check us out at www.lastreetslive.com

Hey Russ
You have an 06 GT.. Are they alowed to be registered as LHD cars still in the NT. Im in QLD and they need to be 30yrs or over to stay LHD. Im desperate to have a new one. But i object to paying $200k for a $50k car just because it is LHD
