Mitsubishi planning electric vehicle for US

The age of electric vehicles are truly upon us now that mainstream manufacturer Mitsubishi is planning the introduction of an electric vehicle to the US. According to Automotive News, the president of Mitsubishi, Osamu Masuko, announced at the company’s annual dealer’s meeting in Las Vegas last week that an all electric vehicle as well as several hybrid models will be making their way to the US in the near future.

Mitsubishi has previously unveiled a hybrid car in concept form, labelled the CT, which was powered by a small 1.1L engine combined with individual electric motors powering each wheel. The new cars, which will be sold first in Japan before coming to the US will feature the latest lithium-ion batter technology and may be here by as early as 2010. Last year the company reported that it would start selling electric cars by the end of the decade, and this latest news affirms that goal.

Get with it, Mitsubishi. I'm ready for an ALL ELECTRIC, with plug-in, photo voltaics, and a small gasoline engine in case I go too far for the batteries. And don't forget the safety features, such as airbags.
