The SEMA show in Las Vegas is over for another year but don’t worry if you missed it because you’ll find all the highlights here. One of the standouts was this Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] Mustang speedster from Stitchcraft. It’s based on the Mustang EcoBoost and gets a healthy dose of nitrous to up the performance.

Dodge Shakedown Challenger concept, 2016 SEMA show

Dodge Shakedown Challenger concept, 2016 SEMA show

Our favorite would have to be the Dodge Shakedown Challenger concept developed by Mopar. The concept features a hand-built, one-off frame with a removable body based on a 1971 Challenger. Its powerplant, though, is the modern Challenger SRT 392’s 485-horsepower 6.4-liter V-8. Similar conversions are now much easier thanks to an engine swap kit Mopar launched at SEMA.

Toyota Land Speed Cruiser concept, 2016 SEMA show

Toyota Land Speed Cruiser concept, 2016 SEMA show

One of the more crazy concepts was the Land Speed Cruiser from Toyota. It’s a slammed 200-series Land Cruiser that’s generating 2,000 horsepower from a twin-turbocharged 5.7-liter V-8. This is enough, Toyota claims, to reach a top speed of 220 mph.

Speaking of wild Toyota concepts, drifter Ryan Tuerck presented his 86 coupe featuring a Ferrari [NYSE:RACE] 458 Italia engine swap. It may not be much to look at right now but it sounds awesome.

Yet another impressive concept from Toyota was this bright yellow Lexus LC 500. Its build was inspired by the LC500 Super GT racer and included enlarging the stock V-8 to boost output to 525 hp.

2017 Ford Mustang GT4 race car, 2016 SEMA show

Another SEMA Mustang that made headlines was the new GT4 version that was shown for the first time. The new race car's got big shoes to follow as it replaces the Shelby GT350R-C, a class winner in the 2016 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.

Mazda MX-5 Miata RF Kuro concept, 2016 SEMA show

Mazda MX-5 Miata RF Kuro concept, 2016 SEMA show

Mazda had a pair of concepts based on its MX-5 Miata. One was the new RF with sporty touches and a very cool semi-matte finish in a charcoal gray called Kuro. The other was a sexy speedster that thanks to some light mods weighs 350 pounds less than the already lithe stock MX-5.

There was much, much more at SEMA. As always, you’ll find our complete coverage on the show over at our dedicated hub.
