Acura is the midst of developing an FIA GT3-spec version of its NSX supercar. This week we saw the beauty in bare carbon fiber. Sadly, by the time it’s ready to race all that bare carbon will be covered by sponsor logos. Acura is only willing to state that its NSX GT3 will compete in a North American race series starting in 2017.

Ferrari [NYSE:RACE] this week previewed a new convertible version of its LaFerrari. The automaker is keeping the car’s name a secret until the reveal at the 2016 Paris Auto Show in September, though LaFerrari Aperta has been rumored. The new name will likely reference Ferrari’s 70th anniversary next year.

Aston Martin this week unveiled its highly-anticipated AM-RB 001 hypercar, which is still being developed by the British automaker and the Red Bull Racing Formula One team. The car’s performance is said to be comparable to an LMP1 like the Porsche 919 Hybrid that just won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but it will also be civil enough to drive down to the shops every day.

Another Aston Martin hypercar that made headlines this week was this stunning blue Vulcan. One of just 24 ever built, it will be auctioned off during Mecum’s annual auction during Monterey Car Week in August. For the winning bidder, a place at the top of the queue for the AM-RB 001 above  is almost guaranteed.

This week some Jeep engineers were spotted testing a Grand Cherokee believed to be powered by the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 known as the Hellcat. The engine delivers as much as 707 horsepower and in the Grand Cherokee will almost certainly set a new benchmark for performance SUVs. Notice the new vents up front? These are likely for keeping the mighty engine cool.

Another upcoming SUV spotted testing was Mercedes-Benz’s next-generation G-Class. Yes, the iconic G-Class is due to undergo its first complete redesign since its launch almost four decades ago. The design isn’t changing much but virtually everything under the skin will be new.
