Audi has more announcements concerning its updated A3, which arrives in the fall as a 2017 model.

A3s with front-wheel drive ditch the 2016 model’s turbocharged 1.8-liter inline-4 in favor of a more powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4.

The new engine sees output rise to 186 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, up 16 hp and 21 lb-ft. It means the 0-60 mph sprint now takes 6.6 seconds, a reduction of 0.6 seconds compared to the 2016 model.

Along with the new engine, a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission has replaced the previous 6-speed unit. Other A3 models stick with the 6-speeder, though.

Other changes for the front-wheel-drive A3 are common across the 2017 A3 range. The list includes tweaks to the headlights and grille and new menus for the infotainment system. A digital instrument cluster is also available.

The front-wheel-drive A3 is priced from $32,150 and the front-wheel-drive A3 Cabriolet from $38,550. Both figures include a $950 destination charge.
