The 50th Anniversary Daytona Coupes Shelby American debuted at last month's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance pay tribute to the legendary models which won the FIA World Sportscar Championship in 1965.

And while they certainly won't approach the stratospheric prices—the last of which sold for a whopping $7.25 million—commanded for the original six models, with production limited to just 50 units, these official recreations are destined to become collector's items themselves.

Fiberglass versions start at a relatively reasonable $179,995, while those with bodywork sculpted in aluminum will run $349,995. And since the cars are delivered as a rolling chassis, customers have plenty of latitude when it comes to engine selection, though at this price point, you'd be hard pressed to find folks opting for anything other than one of Shelby's traditional 289 or stroked 427 powerplants.

The Goodwood Revival currently taking place in the United Kingdom is the international stage for Shelby’s 50th anniversary celebrations for its historic World Sportscar Championship victory. Among the special activities has been the European introduction of the 50th Anniversary Daytona Coupe, an autograph session featuring original team members including the car's designer Peter Brock, appearances by Shelby executives, and the first gathering in history of all six Cobra Daytona Coupes in public.
