What makes the GT350 the rock star of the Mustang lineup? The powertrain. Ford’s swapped out the stock 5.0-liter for a naturally aspirated, high-revving, flat-crank 5.2-liter V-8. They say it's the most powerful naturally aspirated Ford engine ever.
What they’re not saying: actual, final performance numbers. We're told to expect more than 500 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
That power is being sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. For equally huge stopping power, the GT350 gets massive Brembo brakes all around, with fixed six-piston calipers up front and four-piston in the back. You’ll find staggered 19-inch alloy wheels filing the wheel wells and they’re wrapped in Michelin Super Sport tires.
Visually the hotter Mustang’s changed a bit. The hood and windshield are lower, the front fascia is restyled with a carbon fiber grille, and the track is widened. Both the hood vent and fender vents are functional.
