The Mercedes-AMG GT sports car is almost here, with Mercedes-Benz confirming the car will go on sale in April of 2015 priced from $130,825, which includes a $925 destination charge. This is for the car’s GT S trim, which comes with a 503-horsepower version of Mercedes-AMG’s new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 and a 0-60 mph time of 3.7 seconds.

The tamer GT trim, which will offer 456 hp from the same engine and a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds, will go on sale in the spring of 2016. Pricing for the GT trim will be announced closer to next year’s sales launch, but expect a discount (we hear it could be as much as $20k) on the price of the GT S.

Key rivals for the GT S include the Porsche 911 Carrera S priced from $99,895 with shipping, and the Jaguar F-Type R which starts at $99,925 with shipping.

Though more expensive than rivals, the pricing of the GT S represents a steep discount on the near-$200k figure you had to pay for Mercedes-AMG’s previous car, the SLS AMG. Yet it still has everything you’d expect from a genuine Mercedes-AMG sports car, from the characteristic styling, thoroughbred motorsport technology to the optimum weight distribution.

Standard goodies being offered on the GT S include Nappa leather trim, a COMAND infotainment system, staggered wheels measuring 19 inches up front and 20 inches in the rear, red brake calipers, adaptive suspension, LED headlights, power-adjustable bucket seats, numerous electronic driving aids, and a Burmester premium audio system.
