The 2017 Jaguar XE may have been unveiled in Europe over a year ago—and already shown here in the United States—but it's still not going to be in local showrooms until next year. So, understandably, Jaguar has teasingly taken its time filling in some of the details.

Now, at this week's 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, the automaker has finally revealed all. When it goes on sale in the U.S. next spring, as a 2017 model, the XE will be offered with three powertrains, including a supercharged V-6 plus turbocharged gasoline and diesel four-cylinder engines from Jaguar Land Rover's new Ingenium engine family.

An XE 25t gets a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 240 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque. Jaguar says it will do 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds, while all XE models top out at 120 mph. At launch, the sole transmission will be a ZF eight-speed automatic, although a manual option will be offered eventually.

There will also be an XE 35t model, with Jaguar Land Rover's well-known supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 fitted under the hood. With 340 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, this engine will propel the XE to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds.

As was previously confirmed, the XE will also be the first U.S.-market Jaguar offered with a diesel engine. An XE 20d uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder based off the same Ingenium architecture as the XE 25t's gasoline four. It produces 180 hp and 318 lb-ft, which will get the XE to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, Jaguar says. The diesel will likely be the most fuel-efficient Jaguar ever sold in the U.S., though we can't confirm it until EPA-rated figures are released closer to next year's market launch.

The XE 20d and 35t will be the models available with all-wheel drive, while rear-wheel drive is standard across the board.

The XE is based on Jaguar's new aluminum-intensive architecture, boasting a body that's 75-percent aluminum. Jaguar used a special alloy called RC 5754 that uses higher levels of recycled material than other aluminum alloys to help get the weight down and the rigidity up. The XE also contains 101 lb of recycled plastics and renewable materials. It's part of the automaker's effort to use 75 percent recycled materials by 2020.

On the technology front, the XE boasts Jaguar's All-Surface Progress Control, which acts as a low-speed cruise control to maintain traction while pulling away from a stop. There are also two versions of the InControl infotainment system: the standard InControl Touch version with an 8.0-inch touchscreen, and an InControl Touch Pro version with a 10.2-inch screen. An Apple Watch app allows drivers to do things like lock and unlock the car and check fuel levels remotely.

Pricing for the 2017 Jaguar XE starts at $35,895 for the XE 25t and rises to $37,395 for the XE 20d diesel and $42,695 for the XE 35t. All prices include destination.
