Its driver's seat is hardly the lap of luxury. There's nary a stitch of diamond-quilted leather, and at speed, it'll hardly be a whisper-quiet womb.

But the classic Bentley that will be displayed at this year's Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach is a key piece of the company's heritage—and the spiritual ancestor to today's gentlemen bruisers, including its Continental GT3-R.

Dubbed the "Team Blower," the No 9 car was campaigned during the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1930, and features an open cockpit along with a prominent supercharger at the nose. Factory drivers Woolf Barnato and Glen Kidston piloted another Blower Bentley to victory that year, but the "Team" car's historic provenance has made it a popular attraction at vintage events.

Of course, Bentley's heritage department has insured the veteran racer won't be attending the party alone. The prewar racer will be joined by four other notable examples of the marque, including the very first to sport a Bentley badge, an experimental Brass Age model, company founder W.O. Bentley’s personal 1930 8 Litre saloon, and a stunning 1952 Continental R-Type.
