Nissan will once again have one of the biggest exhibits at the Tokyo Auto Salon, with the automaker confirming 10 model introductions for Japan’s premier tuning fest. The headline act of Nissan’s 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon onslaught will be the 2015 GT-R NISMO although a pair of new race cars is also likely to steal the limelight.

The GT-R NISMO is the second fastest production car around Germany’s Nürburgring, needing just 7:08.679 to achieve the feat. This puts it ahead of some awesome machinery such as the Dodge Viper ACR and Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition... by a significant margin. The version on display in Tokyo will be fitted with the car’s available NISMO special option pack, which is the same specially tuned kit the GT-R NISMO wore on its ‘Ring run.

Sharing the stage with the GT-R NISMO will be two race cars destined for the 2014 motorsport season: the GT-R NISMO GT500 that will compete in Super GT and the ZEOD RC that will compete as a Garage 56 experimental entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The latter is powered by a compact, light-weight gasoline engine and an electric motor and the driver can switch the drivetrain between the engine and the motor on demand.

In addition to these, Nissan will show a new concept based on its X-Trail crossover, the global version of the 2014 Rogue. Called the X-Trail X-Tremer, the concept previews a number of official accessories Nissan is likely to launch in the near future.

Another interesting concept is the Leaf Aero Style, which as its name suggests features a number of stylish aero mods. A similar aero-enhanced model Nissan will show is the March NISMO S. This car, based on the regular March NISMO performance subcompact, wears aero parts creating more downforce in addition to sport-tuned springs which improve cornering performance.

The last four vehicles Nissan has announced are based on its various vans sold in the Japanese market, such as the Dayz Roox, Elgrand and Serena. They will preview some new accessories, including some developed by Nissan’s semi-official tuner Autech.

The 2014 Tokyo Auto Salon tuning fest will run from January 10 to 12 at the Makuhari Messe in Tokyo’s Chiba prefecture. For our complete coverage of the event, head to our dedicated hub.
