Suzuki may no longer be selling cars in the U.S. but the automaker hasn’t ceased from developing funky concept cars, three of which will debut next month at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. One of these will be familiar to fans of 2011’s Regina concept while the other two hint at additional crossover models that could be launched by the Japanese automaker in the near future.

First up is the Crosshiker, which Suzuki describes as a compact crossover that fuses funky styling with a fuel-efficient powertrain. One glance will tell you that the Crosshiker is essentially a crossover version of the Regina, so perhaps this means a production version isn’t too far away.

The Crosshiker would fit into the subcompact segment but its weight, less than 1,800 pounds, is comparable with that of a minicar. Power comes from a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine that’s said to be pokey as well as economical.

Next is the X-LANDER, which packs a hybrid four-wheel-drive system. The X-LANDER shares its underpinnings with the Suzuki Jimny sold overseas, but you wouldn’t be able to guess that just by looking at it, mainly due to its convertible roof. Under the new body lies a lightweight hybrid system that consists of a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine, electric drive system and an automated manual transmission.

Finally, we have the Hustler, which is described as a crossover that suits an active lifestyle. It’s powered by a four-cylinder engine and features Suzuki’s next-generation all-wheel-drive system dubbed ALLGRIP.

This year’s Tokyo Motor Show commences on November 20. The Motor Authority crew will be on hand to bring you all the latest information and photos direct from the show floor, so be sure to bookmark our dedicated hub.
