One of the world's most recognizable luxury SUVs is back, and it's better than ever before.

That much is clear to see in our video of the car from the Los Angeles International Auto Show, where the 2015 Cadillac Escalade makes its debut. Outwardly similar to the outgoing car, GM has improved the Escalade in every area, with more power, greater luxury and more efficiency--without compromising in the areas its buyers have always appreciated.

Styling is one of those areas. The new car is every bit as imposing as the old, starting with a suitably-sized interpretation of Caddy's current grille design. It's flanked by two large but slimline headlights, which lead into a squarer, more modern side profile and rear view. Importantly, you'll not mistake it for anything but an Escalade.

You might mistake the interior for something else though, as it takes a huge step up in quality and design, reflecting more recent Cadillac models--real wood trim, improved build, greater refinement and the latest version of Cadillac's CUE entertainment system. There's also more room, as Cadillac has managed to liberate an extra four inches of legroom in the cabin and 1.5 inches of headroom--making the middle and rear seat rows a little more pleasant to travel in.

There's a new engine too, a 6.2-liter V-8 shared with the Chevy Silverado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali, producing 420 horsepower and 460 pounds-feet of torque. Those numbers represent a five- and ten-percent improvement respectively, and allow for a new 8,200-pound towing rating. Economy also improves, though full EPA ratings haven't yet been revealed.

Production of the new Escalade begins next spring, with sales shortly after.
