The Hennessey HPE700 is a McLaren on steroids. The 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 produces the aforementioned 704 hp (plus 538 pound-feet of torque), thanks to new engine management software, an upgraded intercooler, and high-flow air filter and exhaust systems.
In addition to slaying a stock 12C in a drag race, the HPE700 will do 0-60 mph in a P1-rivaling 2.8 seconds and cover a quarter mile in 10.3 seconds, with a trap speed of 137 mph.
So a race between an HPE700 and a stock 12C isn't much of a contest but what about lining one up against Hennessey's HPE700 Twin Turbo Ferrari 458 Italia? The Hennessey 458 has 738 hp, and 532 lb-ft. It also does 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds and rolls through the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds at 137 mph. That would be quite a race.
Souped-up supercars are all in a day's work for a shop that, among other things, recently deployed at Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 on a stretch of open highway, reaching a top speed of 203.9 mph.
