One of the star surprises of last month’s Frankfurt Auto Show was the Sport quattro concept from Audi. The brightly colored concept was built to celebrate 30 years since the launch of the original Sport quattro, but also to preview Audi’s upcoming technology and design themes.

No, Audi isn’t likely to turn the Sport quattro concept into a production model, but the vehicle does hint strongly at the next A5; more specifically, the next A5 in its high-performance RS 5 trim.

Sadly, that means we’re likely to never experience the Sport quattro concept and its advanced hybrid drivetrain combining a twin-turbocharged V-8 and electric drive system. But at least we can enjoy it through this video, which was released by Audi to celebrate 100,000 likes on its German Facebook page.

In case you have forgotten, the Sport quattro concept was good for 700 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of total system output. This allows the four-seater coupe to sprint from 0-62 mph in just 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 mph, which is not bad considering it weighs a hefty 4,079 pounds.
