Race-inspired is a phrase easily thrown around by companies that both race and build road cars. But does it really mean anything? Sometimes, it does. In the case of the Squadra Corse, it certainly appears to.

Bred from the one-make Super Trofeo race cars, but tamed just enough to be legal (and tolerable) for the street, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse is the most focused Gallardo road car ever.

Though it uses the same V-10 found in the street car, the Squadra Corse sheds 150 pounds in weight through extensive use of carbon fiber and aluminum, adds a high-downforce aerodynamics package (including a rear wing you could camp under), and gets a quick-release engine cover.

The end result? A car that will hit 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds, 124 mph in 10.4 seconds, and a top speed of 199 mph. Oh, and it's all-wheel drive. And it costs a tick under $260,000.

It also sounds fantastic and looks like a ton-and-a-half of fun.
