Buick is ready to brings its updated 2014 Regal to market later this year. Before they do that, however, it needs to have a pricetag, and that's just what the automaker has announced. The base 2014 Regal will start at $30,615, and Buick is prepping the car with some great improvements over the outgoing 2013 model.

There are two powertrains available for the 2014 Regal. The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder motor that produces 259 horsepower, which is an 18 percent power improvement over the prior year Regal. This unit is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. Fuel economy for this setup is rated at 21 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon out on the highway. That city mpg figure represents a 17 percent improvement over the older car.

Besides the 2.0-liter, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder is also available and it pairs with the eAssist mild-hybrid system to return 36 miles per gallon on the highway. The eAssist-equipped Regal starts at $32,485 and the 2.0-liter Turbo all-wheel-drive version begins at $32,790.

Buick will offer up the slightly more sporting Regal GS after the initial vehicles arrive in dealer showrooms. Pricing starts at $37,830, and this gets you a Regal loaded with tons of amenities and features. Items such as HID headlamps, leather-covered sport seats, and a Bose audio system. That's just a small taste of the rather lengthy list of upgraded features you'll find in the Regal GS. Under the hood is the same engine that's found in the 2.0-liter Turbo, but you can swap in a six-speed manual gearbox on the front-wheel-drive GS. Should you prefer the all-wheel-drive variant, you will have to shell out at least $40,195.

All of the prices shown include a $925 destination charge.
