The 2014 Land Rover LR4 will set you back $50,595. The mid-level LR4 HSE is priced at $55,495, while the LR4 HSE LUX is priced at $60,795. All prices are inclusive of an $895 destination charge.
Gone is the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 of the previous model year; it’s been replaced by a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 that offers nearly the same performance. The engine delivers 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet, down slightly on the 375 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of the V-8.
A brilliant ZF eight-speed automatic has also replaced the outgoing model’s six-speeder. The transmission has allowed Land Rover engineers to add an engine stop-start system. EPA fuel economy numbers are yet to be replaced but Land Rover says mileage has been improved compared to last year.
Other features include a lighter, single-speed transfer case 4WD system as standard, with a two-speed transfer case 4WD system now part of an optional Heavy Duty Package. This package also equips the vehicle with an active locking rear differential and a full-size spare tire. Height-adjustable air suspension, a third-generation Terrain Response system and a reverse camera is all standard, however.
Seven seats split over three rows is available, along with a special Windsor Leather Package. One upgrade we’d recommend is the Meridian premium sound system.
