MINI is set to unveil its third-generation Cooper on November 18, the 107th anniversary of the birth of Sir Alec Issigonis, the designer of the original Mini. To get us excited, the automaker has released this new teaser video that provides several glimpses of the car.

MINI is clearly excited about the introduction of its new Cooper, which is expected to hit showrooms early in the new year. The automaker has planned separate unveiling events for the car at locations including the plant in Oxford as well as London, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Shanghai.

The car has already been previewed in concept form by the MINI Vision and recently we were treated with details on its powertrain and safety technologies. Our own spy shots also reveal much of the car’s design; key design details include a hexagonal radiator grille, auxiliary lights mounted in the grille, LED headlights (though perhaps as an option), and ring-shaped daytime running lights integrated with the headlights.

At launch, the base Cooper will feature a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine with approximately 134 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque (169 pound-feet with overboost function), while the sportier Cooper S will get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 189 horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque (221 pound-feet with overboost). Further down the track, a high-performance John Cooper Works model will be launched.

Stay tuned for the reveal in just one week.
