In the name of remembrance of the 1913 Alpine Trial and the Silver Ghost's assumption of the title "Best Car in the World," Rolls-Royce is releasing a new Alpine Trial Centenary Collection at the Shanghai Auto Show this week.

In addition to the collection, Rolls-Royce has organized a "faithful re-enactment" of the 1,820-mile Alpine Trial, to take place on June 14.

The collection itself marks the first time a Bespoke model has used a Rolls-Royce heritage car as inspiration. Based on the current Ghost, with exterior color and trim based on James Radley's privateer Silver Ghost Alpine Trial car.

A unique shade of blue coats the bodywork, while a black grille sits up front--another first for Rolls-Royce. Inside, the clock displays rally-style time; inlays to the rear picnic tables map the topography of the Alpine Trial route; and a hand-painted coachline, color-matched to the hood of Radley's car, references the four Silver Ghosts that ran the original rally.

According to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös, "It is a testament to the enduring quality of a Rolls-Royce motor car that this 2013 car will be joined by a participant in the original trials, the 1913 Radley Silver Ghost."
