This week marked the opening to the public of an exciting new exhibition at the official Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy.

The exhibition, titled ‘Ferrari Supercar - Technology, Design, Myth,’ focuses on the Italian sports car manufacturer’s special series models whose lineage can be traced back to the 250 GTO from the 1960s all the way up to the latest LaFerrari unveiled this month at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

While the cars on display are all very impressive, one of the real highlights is a section highlighting the development of the LaFerrari.

It’s not every day that you get to see how one of Ferrari’s supercars is designed, engineered and finally built, but the exhibition shows everything from initial design briefs and sketches for the LaFerrari, to alternative proposals and even clay models.

There’s also a display showing all the people that were involved in the car’s gestation.

Running between now and September, the Ferrari Supercar - Technology, Design, Myth exhibition is certainly worth the visit if you’re planning a trip to Northern Italy.

KTM X-Bow GT

KTM X-Bow GT

The KTM X-Bow is an unflinchingly stripped-down track car that coincidentally happens to be street legal. The latest set of photos of KTM’s newest model, the X-Bow GT, show just how potent the car can be when it faces a beautiful stretch of road in the mountains.

From KTM’s X-Bow GT in the mountains, we now head to the frozen ice sheets of Finland where local tire manufacturer Nokian Tyres set a new world record for the highest speed driven on ice. We can think of few better cars to be driven to the limit on a sheet of ice than the Audi RS 6.

When it comes to collector cars, rarity often has a huge impact on value, and it doesn’t get rarer than one-of-one built. Pictured here is a one-off 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Super Snake that someone's been crazy enough to sell.

It’s surprisingly rare that the CEOs of major automakers are actually huge car guys, but when it comes to Fiat-Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne that's certainly the case. Some of the cars he's owned include a 599 GTB Fiorano and Enzo supercar from Ferrari, and this very sinister Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 which he’s kindly donated to charity.

Mercedes-Benz will soon be replacing its CL Class with a brand new S Class Coupe, and these spy shots of a prototype reveal that it will be one very curvy model. It’s certainly a lot more athletic than the current CL Class also pictured here.

While it’s usually the exteriors of cars that we lust over, many cars still look spectacular with their clothes off. This photo of the Audi R8 with its engine bay and structural components exposed is simply breathtaking--and the video is even better.

BMW’s revolutionary i8 plug-in hybrid sports car is almost ready for production. Retaining a great deal of its conceptual design, the i8 will certainly look impressive. We just hope it drives good as well.
