Aside from the obvious difference of the power-folding soft top, the Convertible mostly shares its design with the Stingray coupe. Structural reinforcements and re-positioned seat belt mounts are the main physical changes to allow for the roof.
Despite the additional structural elements, the Stingray Convertible leverages its new aluminum chassis to weigh in at 99 pounds lighter than the C6 Corvette Convertible, while managing 57 percent greater stiffness.
