The Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ have proven their mettle when it comes to sheer driving fun, despite their low power and relatively low cost. But wouldn't a convertible version be nice? That's exactly what's next, as previewed by the Toyota FT-86 Open Concept to be revealed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show next week--and previewed on the web today.

This huge gallery of images shows a very high-end take on the FR-S/BRZ Convertible concept, with a delicious two-tone leather interior and perhaps the most ingenious use of a logo on an interior we've ever seen: the "86" boxer emblem is also an iPhone mount. Brilliant.

The soft top is said to be electrically operated, though we wouldn't have been opposed to a manual soft top like you'll find on the Mazda MX-5. Otherwise, the car looks just about exactly how you'd expect it: well-proportioned, sleek, and even more sporty than the coupe.

Of course, it's likely to be a bit less stiff, weigh a bit more, and be a bit more expensive, so the hardcore enthusiasts will probably stick to the hardtop--but for those seeking a lot of sun with their fun, the FT-86 Open Concept's preview of a very likely Scion FR-S Convertible (and somewhat less likely Subaru BRZ Convertible) might be just the ticket.
