Audi is launching its all-new RS 5 Cabriolet just in time for spring, and we finally have the all-important pricing information.

The stunning drop-top will set you back $77,900, which is $8,105 more than the price of the RS 5 coupe.

For that money, you get the raw performance of the coupe but with the added benefit of top-down cruising.

The RS 5 Cabriolet makes do with a simple automated folding soft-top, which helps keep weight down and eats up less trunk space when lowered--it requires just 2.12 cubic feet of the trunk’s 13.42 cubic feet of storage.

The roof spans a well-appointed four-seat cabin and can be lowered in just 15 seconds, even when driving at speeds of up to 30 mph.

But it’s the engine that’s the real highlight in the RS 5. One of the last naturally-aspirated V-8s found in a German performance car, the 4.2-liter V-8 produces 450 horsepower at a lofty 8,250 rpm and a reasonable 317 pound-feet of torque between 4,000 and 6,000 revs.

Equipped with a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission with launch control and standard quattro all-wheel drive, the RS 5 Cabriolet launches from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds and will easily reach its governed top speed of 174 mph. Fuel economy comes in at 16/22 mpg city/highway, or 18 mpg combined, which is enough to see it escape a gas guzzler tax.

Some of the optional goodies include climate-controlled seats, Alcantara trim and Audi's MMI navigation plus interface. Customers can also opt for carbon ceramic brakes, which alone cost a cool $6,000.
