Welcome to the first ‘This Week’s Top Photos’ post of 2013. Despite being only one week into the new year, we’ve already got an exciting assortment of photos to show you.

Also, we only recently posted our ‘Best Car Photos Of 2012’ list, so if you haven’t checked it out already make sure you do.

January is a very busy month in the auto world. Not only does it play host to the annual Detroit Auto Show, but it’s also the month for the Tokyo Auto Salon, Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auctions and the Dakar Rally.

Understandably, many of our photos this week are linked with those events.

To start off this week is this computer-generated rendering of Ferrari’s replacement for the Enzo supercar, the code-named F150. The new Ferrari flagship is easily the most anticipated car of the year, and potentially for the rest of the decade.

The rendering was done by our friends at Iacoski Design and is based on prototypes spotted in the wild, as well as previous teaser images of the new F150 printed in Ferrari’s official magazine. The rendering shows an evolution of the Enzo, with influences from the track-only FXX experimental cars as well as Ferrari’s Formula One race cars.

The rendering also shows that the F150 will likely benefit from an advanced aerodynamics package, which may include active flaps in the front bumper. Overall, we think it's a great look for the new supercar.

Next up is this photo of a 1970 Plymouth Superbird. The car may look just as weird now as it did back when it was launched (many owners actually changed the cars back into regular Road Runners), but that doesn't mean it isn't highly desirable. Today, they easily sell for well into the six figures.

This impressive shot shows a new Formula E electric race car passing the legendary Colosseum in Rome. The Italian capital was recently picked as one of the cities set to host a Formula E race when the championship goes live in 2014.

2013 Dakar Rally

This weekend is the 2013 Dakar Rally, an annual grueling race that takes participants across thousands of miles of some the harshest terrain on the planet. While the rally’s traditional home is in West Africa, South America has been its home since the 2008 race was canceled due to security threats.

This sorry-looking car, believe it or not, is a numbers-matching 1963 E-Type. Given the condition, it’s no surprise the car sold on eBay Motors recently for less than $10k.

The Tokyo Auto Salon is typically a hotbed for highly-modified sports cars but in recent years many OEMs have shown up with some family-oriented models. This year, Mazda  has resorted to sprucing up its Mazda6 for the auto salon.

That's it for this week. And if for some reason you aren't already seeing all the latest from Motor Authority, we highly recommend you follow us on Twitter and Facebook after you subscribe to our YouTube channel.
