Audi has unveiled the 2014 S3 in a three-door hatchback form, and after seeing it in person we can only be even more disappointed that it won't be coming to the U.S. in this body style.

The new S3 is powered by a 2.0-liter TFSI turbo four-cylinder rated at 296 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels through Audi's quattro system, and both a six-speed manual and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be available.

The styling features S-specific items such as a single-frame grille, aluminum-look side mirrors housings, an integrated rear diffuser, a spoiler, and four oval tailpipes.

While the S3 hatchback won't be coming to the U.S., an A3 sedan will be. With any luck Audi will decide to bring an S3 sedan to the U.S. for the enthusiast market.
