Can’t decide whether to opt for a V-6 engine in your new 2014 Jaguar F-Type, or go all the way and order a V-8? Jaguar is here to help, with the automaker’s latest video comparing the sound of a V-6 F-Type with that of a V-8 model.

As we discovered at the car’s recent 2012 Paris Auto Show debut, Jaguar will offer the F-Type initially with three engine options.

Base F-Types will come powered by a supercharged 3.0-liter V-6, rated at 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Mid-spec F-Type S models make 380 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque from the same supercharged 3.0-liter V-6, and range topping F-Type V8 S models make 495 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque from a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8.

No matter which model you choose, all 2014 F-Types will be able to reach 60 mph from rest in around 5 seconds or less, so they’re all quite capable when it comes to acceleration. Of course, cars with the V-6 are likely to feel more nimble and use less fuel, while those with the V-8 come with more grunt.

There’s one other key difference between the two engine types. V-6 F-Types get a mechanical limited slip differential while the V-8 gets an electronic unit.

After watching the clip, we know which engine we’d select. Let us know which you'd prefer in the comments below.
