Following in the footsteps of fellow tuners RUF and 9FF, Germany’s Alpha-N Performance has announced plans for a wild supercar based around the chassis of a current Porsche model. Alpha-N is a relatively new name in the performance scene but the founders of the company were linked with the now defunct Veritas-VBT Racing, which previously went by the name Brabham Racing and was an expert at developing performance modifications for street use and racing.

To show its capabilities, Alpha-N is using a donor Porsche Cayman to form the basis of a new supercar that it says will develop upwards of 800 horsepower. While several cars can be had delivering similar power levels, or even more, Alpha-N says its car, dubbed the Alpha-One, will weigh as little as between 2,400 and 2,800 pounds.

One of the keys to achieving that low weight will be a full carbon fiber body. The styling, previewed here in these official renderings, show a look that is clearly derived from the Porsche Cayman on which the car is based, though there are clearly some elements borrowed from the yet-to-be released Porsche 918 Spyder.

Alpha-N hasn’t said what will be powering its Alpha-One supercar, though you can bet it’ll be a flat-six engine with a pair of turbochargers bolted on.

Stay tuned for an update.
