The dust is only just settling on the floors of Geneva’s Palexpo Arena, home of the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, but already we’re gearing up for the next major event on the international auto show calendar, the 2013 New York Auto Show.

Yes, Motor Authority’s editors are hitting the road again, this time heading to metro New York for the city’s annual auto show in order to bring you the latest details, interviews and live photos and video.

First held in 1900, the New York Auto Show is the oldest-running auto show in the U.S., and one of the country’s biggest.

We’re expecting more than 1,000 vehicles to be on display in the Jacob Javits Convention Center where the event is held, and, in addition to this, nearly 100 individual events, conferences, industry forums, symposiums, award ceremonies, roundtables, and parties will be taking place during the press preview week, which this year kicks off on March 27.

That means more sneak peeks, more brand new '13 and '14 production models, and more concept vehicles than ever before. The show is also where the winner of the World and Performance Car of the Year awards is announced, which is now in its ninth year and increasingly becoming one the most prestigious awards in the global automotive industry.

Here’s a rundown of what you can expect this week. And remember, at any time you’ll be able to access the latest information from the show via this dedicated show page.

2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG leaked photos

2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG: Mercedes’ new sports sedan, the CLA45 AMG, is one of the most anticipated cars of the year. Fortunately for us, we already know most of its details. We already know what it will look like thanks to an early leak of photos; we also know it will come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine putting out around 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque thanks to the reveal of its European cousin, the A45 AMG; and finally, we also that it will be priced less than $50k based on information received from Mercedes insiders. Still, we can’t wait to see the car in New York.

2013 Shelby 1000 S/C

: Powered by the same supercharged 5.8-liter V-8 as the standard Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, but with extensive work done to bring it up to 1,200 horsepower, Shelby American’s new supercar muscle car set to debut in New York should be one of the major highlights. Full details will be revealed this week, so stay tuned.

2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS teaser image

2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS teaser image

2014 Chevrolet Camaro: The latest generation of the Camaro has been around since the 2010 model year, and though we’ve seen a number of variants launched over the years the basic look of the car hasn’t changed at all. That won’t be true for long as a refreshed version is due to be introduced for the 2014 model year, and we’ll get our first look at the car in New York this week. All we know is that the refresh will “advance the design and performance attributes” of the iconic muscle car, and this initial teaser confirms the car will at least feature a revised grille.

2014 SRT Viper TA

2014 SRT Viper TA

2014 SRT Viper TA: Chevrolet’s Corvette won the first battle of a war that we’re sure will ensue for many years to come, and that’s the track lap time feud between the bowtie-badged sports car and the new Viper from the SRT camp. SRT has since retaliated with its 2014 Viper TA, where the TA stands for, you guessed it, “Time Attack.” No extra power is offered on this model, though it gets some uprated suspension, a lighter curb weight and a host of extras. Sadly, only 33 examples of this beauty will be made.

Subaru ‘Performance Concept’: Subaru will have two major debuts at this week’s 2013 New York Auto Show. One of these has been confirmed as the 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid, while the other is described simply as an “all-new performance concept.” No other details have been revealed, though many are suggesting that it will be a preview of the successor to the Subaru Impreza WRX.

2014 Volkswagen Golf GTI, 2013 Geneva Motor Show

2014 Volkswagen Golf GTI, 2013 Geneva Motor Show

2015 Volkswagen GTI: Yes, we know the latest MkVII GTI was just revealed in Geneva this month, but this will be the first time that we can feast our eyes on the American-spec car, which, incidentally, will be manufactured in Mexico instead of Germany. Though American specifications may vary slightly from the European model, the new GTI promises a very entertaining 220 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque from a very low 1,500 rpm. Also in New York will be the American-spec MkVII Golf, which will be hitting showrooms alongside the GTI early next year.

LUXURY CARS

2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport: A brand new Range Rover Sport, built on the same aluminum chassis found in the latest Range Rover, will debut in New York this week.

Despite being one of the world’s most congested cities, New York is the single biggest market for the Range Rover Sport, so it’s only fitting that this model debuts at the city’s premier auto show.

We expect the vehicle to feature at least 510 horsepower in range-topping trim, while at the other end of the scale we could see a 340-horsepower supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 offered (a diesel should also be offered overseas). Matched to these engines should be a standard eight-speed automatic transmission from Germany’s ZF.

In the lead up to the new Range Rover Sport’s unveiling, Land Rover has been teasing us with a number of videos and photos. You can access all of them by hitting the following links:

2014 Acura MDX: Acura will finally unveil the production version of its third-generation MDX luxury SUV, a prototype of which we saw at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show back in January.

Only evolutionary updates have been made to the vehicle’s styling, but inside it will offer much more space. In particular, Acura promises more legroom for the second row and easier access to the third.

Only one engine will be available, a 3.5-liter V-6 with direct fuel injection and cylinder deactivation, but customers will have the choice of front- and all-wheel drive models for the first time.

2014 Cadillac CTS: One of the most important debuts of this week’s 2013 New Auto Show will be the redesigned 2014 Cadillac CTS. This will be the third generation of the mid-size Cadillac sedan, and it should easily be its best one yet. The car benefits from Cadillac’s award-winning Alpha platform, as well as a new twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6 that outputs as much as 420 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. If that wasn’t enough, the car also gets an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The 2014 CTS will also offer the current 321-horsepower 3.6-liter normally aspirated V-6 and the turbocharged 272-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder currently offered in the ATS.

2014 BMW 328d: If you’ve been dying to see BMW offer a diesel in its latest F30 3-Series, you only have a few days left of agony as the automaker has confirmed that it’s bringing its new 328d sedan to the New York Auto Show. Fitted with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine, BMW’s 328d will generate 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, which the automaker says is enough for a 0-60 mph time of 7.2 seconds and fuel economy in excess of 40 mpg. Though it won’t be displayed in New York, word is that the BMW 3-Series Sports Wagon will also receive the diesel option here in the states.

Teaser for 2014 Hyundai Equus

Teaser for 2014 Hyundai Equus

2014 Hyundai Equus: Hyundai’s flagship sedan, the Equus, is cued to receive a mid-cycle update for the 2014 model year, and we’ll get our first look at the updated version at the 2013 New York Auto Show. Hyundai says there will be 30 changes all up, with most of them aimed at refining the experience and updating some of the technology. The single engine offering stays the same, with the 429-horsepower 5.0-liter Tau V-8 providing the motivation. However, a new shift-by-wire transmission will be fitted as standard on this updated model.

2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid

: Don’t get too excited. The QX60 isn’t a brand new model from Infiniti but simply its JX renamed under the automaker’s Q-based naming strategy. There is one new element worth mentioning, however, and that’s the new hybrid option that will be available on the popular seven-seat crossover. Peak output of 250 horsepower features on the 2014 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid, which is derived from a 2.5-liter supercharged engine and an electric motor.

2014 Jaguar XJR

2014 Jaguar XJR

2014 Jaguar XJR: Jaguar’s XJR nameplate is set for a revival, with the British automaker introducing the latest model for the 2014 model year. The car will make its official debut this week at the 2013 New York Auto Show, but we already know what it will look like thanks to this first image. We also know it will feature a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine with a heady 550 horsepower on tap.

2013.5 Chrysler 200 S Special Edition: Chrysler has teamed up with workwear specialist Carhartt, a fellow Detroit legend, to build a new special edition 200 S, which it was introducing midway through the current 2013 model year, hence the ‘2013.5’ classification. It gets a number of special features including sport-tuned suspension, 18-inch aluminum wheels, a steering wheel wrapped in perforated leather and a Boston Acoustic sound system.
