Top Gear Live's 'Deadly 720' back-to-back loop-the-loop
The ground-breaking feat--dubbed the ‘Deadly 720’, for obvious reasons--was the amazing finale to the first of four Top Gear Live shows staged in front of thousands of spectators in Durban, South Africa.
The never-before performed stunt required the driver to execute a single 360-degree loop on a specially constructed track, followed immediately by a second 360-degree loop.
A specially-built buggy was used for the attempt, fitted with hand controls for more precise throttle application under the anticipated G-loads.
In case you’re unfamiliar with Top Gear Live, it is essentially a live version of the popular Top Gear series and is held in locations including much of Europe, South Africa, Hong Kong and Australia. Just like the television program, the live shows are hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, and feature their very own Stig. One key difference, however, is the Top Gear Live Stunt Team.
