Perhaps inspired by the solid gold scale model of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 crafted by German artist Robert Gülpen, a Lamborghini dealership in Miami, Florida, has unveiled what is possibly the first gold-wrapped version of the Italian supercar.

The golden Aventador was unveiled by Lamborghini Miami CEO Brett David at the recent Exotics and Espresso event held in Miami Beach, which the guys at That Racing Channel were fortunate enough to attend and bring us this video of.

Nicknamed “AU79”, the golden Aventador isn’t the first supercar we’ve seen with the bright finish, though it’s certainly one of the most memorable.

As David explained, the car was developed as a follow up to his dealership’s Sharpie Lamborghini, a white Gallardo covered in an artistic pattern penned by a Sharpie pen. With the latest car, David and his team have used a special wrap laced with real gold.

No modifications to the car’s powertrain have been made, although Lamborghini Miami is no stranger to twin-turbocharged exotics.

Nevertheless, the car’s stock 6.5-liter V-12 engine with 691 horsepower and 509 pound-feet of torque should satisfy most.

No word if this car is actually up for sale, but if it were offered we’d expect pricing to run somewhat higher than the regular Aventador’s $379,700 sticker.

A short film surrounding the project is currently in the works and should be hitting the Web in the next couple of months. In the meantime, enjoy these short clips of the AU79 Lamborghini Aventador at its unveiling.
