Sebastian Vettel in New Jersey

Two-time defending Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel has been in North America for the past several days, initially competing at the Canadian Grand Prix before heading to the site of next year’s inaugural Grand Prix of America for a trial run.

He also happened to take some time out to make an appearance on last Monday night’s episode of the Late Show with David Letterman, a clip of which has been uploaded to YouTube.

During the segment, Vettel tells the story of how he got into racing, revealing that he was already behind the wheel before he was four years old.

Now 24, Vettel has since racked up quite the number of awards and achievements over the years, including two Drivers’ Championships in F1 and the  bragging rights of being the youngest ever person to be crowed champion in the top echelon of motorsports.

Letterman, himself a notable personality in motorsports, being a part owner of the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team in IndyCar, poses some interesting questions, including a suggestion that Vettel even help bring back F1 to Indianapolis.
