Burnt out wreck of a Ferrari F430 that went up in flames in Malaysia

While it was a good weekend for the Scuderia Ferrari team in Malaysia this past weekend, the same can’t be said for the driver of this very sad looking F430.

The smoldering heap you see here is the remains of an F430 hard-top--yes, the roof has completely disintegrated--that became engulfed in flames on a highway in Malaysia late last week.

The driver of the car, a man in his 50s, was taking part in an exotic car convoy not too far from the Sepang International Circuit where the Malaysian Grand Prix is held.

The driver is said to have noticed smoke emanating from the engine bay before he pulled to the side of the road. Unfortunately, by the time firefighters arrived on the scene there was not much left of the car to save.

Fortunately no one was injured but the car, as you may have guessed, is a complete write-off. The cause of the fire is believed to be an overheated engine, which many exotics--as well as regular models--fall victim to in Malaysia’s tropical heat.
