Lexus has introduced a major facelift for its 2013 RX range, which sees the top-selling crossovers adopt the aggressive look featured on the latest GS range and soon the ES.

We already had a pretty good idea as to what the new 2013 RX will look like thanks to a previous inadvertent leak, but now Lexus has debuted the latest range at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

The complete lineup includes the familiar RX 350 and RX 450h models as well as a new RX 450h F-Sport model.

Note, this is the first time that Lexus is attaching its F-Sport title, and all the subtle performance upgrades that come with it, to a hybrid. The move is part of Lexus’ continued effort to show that hybrid vehicles can be sporty.

Key changes to the styling on all 2013 Lexus RX models include an aggressive spindle grille, new headlight and bumper designs, and LED daytime running lights.

Inside, the steering wheel has been redesigned for a more comfortable and relaxing grip. A metallic accent enhances the look of the glove box, while a powered rear door and USB/iPod/mp3 control are now standard as well.

The RX 350 sticks with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine matched to a six-speed automatic with manual mode. Peak output is 270 horsepower and customers can choose between front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations.

The RX 450h hybrid also comes with a 3.5-liter V-6 but matches this with a Lexus Hybrid Drive system. It delivers a total 295 horsepower and an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 32/28 mpg city/highway when in its more fuel efficient front-wheel-drive configuration. Opt for all-wheel-drive and you’ll see those figures drop to 30/28 mpg city/highway.

In addition to a fuel-saving ECO mode, the RX 450h features a Sport mode with revised steering effort, throttle mapping and transmission-shifting priorities. In this Sport mode, the instrument cluster light changes to red.

Finally, the big new addition to the range is the RX 450h F-Sport. Available as a Sport Appearance Package in the U.S., the upgrade offers a unique front bumper, revised headlights, and 19-inch wheels with a “superchrome” finish.

Look out for the 2013 Lexus RX range in showrooms this fall.
