When it comes to boutique sports car manufacturers, we’d be hard pressed to name a manufacturer more obscure than Germany’s Melkus. It’s product line currently consists of a single car, the RS2000, available in two different states of tune.

Opt for the RS2000 GT, and you get a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine good for around 300 horsepower. Step up to the RS2000 GTS, and you get 325 horsepower and a more aerodynamic body, complete with an oversized rear wing.

Now Melkus is adding a third, limited edition model to its lineup. Set to debut at this year’s Dubai Motor Show in November, the Melkus RS2000 Black Edition gets a six-layer, hand-sanded, piano-black lacquer paint job sprayed over its GTS-spec body.

Inside, the car gets an interior covered in black full-grain leather and black Alcantara. There’s piano black and carbon fiber trim to accent the look, and the car comes standard with a navigation and infotainment system.

With 325 horsepower on tap, the RS2000 Black Edition will run from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.5 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 168 miles per hour.

If you want one of your own, you’d best not put off contacting Melkus. Only five Black Edition cars will be built, at a starting price of 149,900 euros ($199,547).
