Mosler is reportedly back with a brand new supercar based on its long-running MT900 platform, which was first introduced back in 2001 and built right up until last year when the last example, a slightly updated MT900 S, rolled off the line.

Since then, reports have emerged claiming that Mosler, which still builds a series of race cars based on the MT900 both in the U.S. and in England, plans to build a road-going version of the MT900 S Photon race car (pictured above) exclusively for the U.S. market.

Unfortunately, only one example is expected to be built each year, and the starting price is said to be a cool $479,000.

Like the race on which it is based, the MT900 S Photon should feature a lightweight chassis composed from advanced composite materials, a 525-horsepower V-8 engine displacing 7.0 liters and sourced from Chevrolet, a Hewland transmission, plus a number of carbon fiber components including seats and wheels.

The entire car should weigh in at around 2,500 pounds, which combined with its power output, could deliver 0-60 mph times of less than 3.0 seconds and a top speed in excess of 200 mph.

We'll keep you updated on the car's progress. That is, if it ever eventuates.

Thanks A for sending in the tip!
