The latest concept, previewed in these teaser sketches, is the 2012 Cisitalia 202 E, a modern interpretation of the classic Cisitalia 202 from 1947.
In this case the “E” in the title stands for evolution.
Handling the design work is a team of students undertaking the Master of Arts in Transportation Design program run by the IED. Sponsoring the project are wheel and tire companies OZ Racing and Pirelli.
The original Cisitalia 202, designed and built in post-war Italy by Compagnia Industriale Sportiva Italia, with a little help from Pininfarina, was first unveiled at Lake Como’s Villa d'Este Gold Cup in 1947 before hitting the Paris Auto Show that same year. The car never made large scale production though a handful of examples were built and even raced.
