Volkswagen is using the upcoming Leipzig Auto Show to introduce four new models, including the CC R Line, the Beetle Fender edition and the “Urban White” CrossPolo concept. Most interesting to enthusiasts, however, is an all new Scirocco GTS.
Based on the current not-for-U.S.-consumption Volkswagen Scirocco, the Scirocco GTS gets two-toned stripes running across the hood, roof and tailgate; unique front and rear bumpers; aero side sills and 18-inch “Thunder” alloy wheels covering red-painted brake calipers.
Carrying on the red and black theme, red mirror caps are used to trim black mirror mounts. Inside, the Scirocco GTS gets red and black trim, as well as a traditional “golf ball” dimpled shift knob, an homage to both the original Golf GTI and the 1982 Scirocco GTS.
No changes were made to the Scirocco’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In stock trim, the engine produces 207 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque, which we'd deem sufficient to be entertaining in a sub-2,900 pound car..
