The Audi Q3 has finally been confirmed for the U.S., with the stylish compact crossover due to land in local showrooms this spring.

To whet the appetite of American buyers Audi has unveiled this sporty new Q3 Vail Concept at this week's 2012 Detroit Auto Show, and we now have the live photos direct from the auto show floor.

Targeted at the crowds that drive up to the famous mountain ski resorts of Colorado each year, the Q3 Vail features a powerful 2.5-liter TFSI engine rated at 314 horsepower and hints at a possible sporty variant for the Q3 line.

The concept is painted in a color developed specially for it--Energy Red--which contains golden pearlescent particles. Its add-on body parts are finished in matte grey quartz-based paint, and underline the vehicle’s rugged themes, while the aluminum and high-gloss black window surrounds add a touch of luxury. It’s still an Audi, after all.
