Chevrolet’s sporty Tru 140S Concept and its Code 130R sibling are the result of what happens when an automaker solicits feedback from the very ground they are targeting when designing a new car. In this case Chevrolet was targeting the under-30 Millenials and apparently this is one of the types of vehicle that they’d actually like to buy.

So just what is the Tru 140S Concept? Well, as our man Joel Feder found out at the car’s 2012 Detroit Auto Show debut, it is a sporty front-wheel drive coupe with 2+2 seating and is aimed directly at the Hyundai Veloster and Volkswagen Scirocco sold overseas.

Sharing a platform with the Chevy Cruze and Chevy Volt, the Tru 140S packs a surprising amount of technology into what would likely be an affordable package should the car ever enter production.

Power comes from a direct-injected and turbocharged 1.4-liter engine, complete with stop-start technology for maximum fuel economy. That exterior paint job is a special matte white finish and those wheels are Chevy chrome units wrapped with performance rubber.
