Chrysler has expanded its 300 sedan lineup with a new model targeted at blue bloods with a green conscience.

The new model is the 2012 Chrysler 300 Luxury Series, one the automaker touts as its most luxurious and fuel-efficient flagship ever.

Starting with the luxury, the special 300 sedan gets premium Poltrona Frau leather imported from Italy for its interior, as well as real wood trim that’s been sanded by hand for the finest quality.

In addition to being used on the seats, the fine leather is used to wrap the instrument panel, cluster brow, center console side panels and upper front- and rear-door panels.

The seats themselves are a fine piece of design, coming with 12-way power-adjustable driver and front-passenger functions (including four-way power lumbar), plus two-mode ventilation and two-mode heated seats for both front and rear passengers.

On the outside, there are 20-inch alloy wheels (all-wheel drive models come with 19-inch wheels), special chrome detailing on the bumpers, door handles, and mirror caps, and finally a custom mesh grille.

Customers will be able to pick from either a 292-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 or a 363-horsepower 5.7-liter HEMI V-8. In both cases, the transmission is the latest ZF eight-speed unit fitted with paddle shifters.

Of course, the V-6 is going to be the greenest option, returning a claimed "best-in-class" gas mileage of 31 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined for the rear-wheel drive model. Chrysler says this is around 17 percent more efficient than the previous generation 300 V-6 models. The all-wheel drive model fares slightly worse, returning 27 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined.

Being a luxury-oriented vehicle, you must be wondering what technologies are onboard. We can confirm that the 300 Luxury Series comes standard with Chrysler’s 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Uconnect, satellite navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link, LED detailing, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, and power-adjustable pedals with memory function.

The 2012 Chrysler 300 Luxury Series hits showrooms early next year priced from $40,145.
