If you’re counting down the days until you can take delivery of your very own 2013 Beetle Convertible, there’s some good news to report on its official fuel economy. According to the EPA (via Motor Trend), the 200-horsepower Volkswagen Beetle Turbo Convertible will deliver 21 mpg city, 30 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined when equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox.

If that’s not frugal enough for you, the 2013 Beetle Convertible will also come in TDI form, which promises to deliver an EPA-estimated 28 mpg city, 41 mpg on the highway and 32 mpg combined when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission.

We’re still waiting on EPA estimates for the rest of the Beetle Convertible lineup, including the base version with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine, as well as automatic transmission variants. As for the automatic or DSG versions (likely on the Beetle Turbo Convertible), expect them to come in within a few MPG of the manual versions.

Look for the 2013 Beetle Convertibles to begin hitting dealerships in the U.S. around the end of November, with all three engine configurations being released at the same time. The retro special editions (themed in 1950s, 1960s and 1970s style) will begin arriving in November as well, and the car’s “official” launch will be in February 2013.

Pricing for the Beetle Convertibles has yet to be published, but we expect to see it well in advance of the car's planned debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.
