Tomorrow is the first official press day of the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, but there’s another major automotive event taking place this month, the prestigious 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, which kicks off on November 30.

Not surprisingly, information on all the new model and concept debuts is coming hard and fast, with Toyota today previewing its lineup for its home event.

The Japanese auto giant has announced five world premieres for the Tokyo Motor Show, one of which will be the highly-anticipated production version of the string of FT-86 sports car concepts due to hit showrooms in the first half of next year.

The other four will include the Prius C compact hybrid, the production version of the previously revealed Prius C concept car, as well as the FCV-R hydrogen fuel-cell powered sedan concept, FT-EV III electric minicar concept, and an ultra-compact electric car known as the Fun-Vii.

Starting with the Prius C, this cute hatch combines the features of a Yaris-sized car with a hybrid vehicle to deliver a fun-to-drive compact vehicle with strong gas mileage. It measures in at less than 13 feet and is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine matched to an electric motor. Gas mileage should easily better the 50 mpg mark.

Moving on, we get to the FCV-R concept, which is described as a practical fuel-cell vehicle planned for launch in about 2015. With the fuel-cell unit located beneath the specially designed body, the vehicle can accommodate up to four passengers and is said to boast impressive luggage space.

Toyota says the fuel-cell stack, consisting of a 70 MPa high-pressure hydrogen tank, has been improved to provide a cruising distance of approximately 435 miles under test conditions.

The FT-EV III, as we’re sure many readers will be quick to recognize, is simply the third iteration of Toyota’s iQ-based electric car concepts that started with the original FT-EV reveled in 2009.

Equipped with a lithium-ion battery, the FT-EV III achieves an estimated cruising range of 65 miles on a fully charged battery. A production version is due next year, though Toyota is yet to announce which markets will receive it.
