Only around 650 models are affected by the latest recall, all of them 2013 models equipped with rear-wheel drive.
According to Lexus, the ECU controlling the Variable Gear Ratio Steering system on the affected cars could cause the steering wheel to become off-centered when restarting the vehicle immediately after the vehicle is parked with the steering wheel turned.
Owners of the cars affected by the recall will receive a safety notification by mail starting early next month.
Lexus recommends owners take their cars to their nearest Lexus dealer who will reprogram the ECU free of charge.
Lexus has filed a Defect Information Report (DIR) with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding the recall. At the time of writing the NHTSA website is yet to list the details of the latest recall.
Importantly, no other Toyota or Lexus models are covered by this safety recall. Concerned owners may contact Lexus at 1-800-255-3987.
