2011 Rolls-Royce lineup

Having already established a strong foothold in the Chinese, Indian, and Russian markets, Rolls-Royce is now set to embark on its next major endeavor, expanding into South America.

Rolls-Royce has never officially sold cars in the region, though a number of private imports are present, but for the first time in its history the automaker is sizing up the South American market for a product launch.

CEO Torsten Muller is currently in South America to meet with potential dealers in Brazil and Chile, as well as future customers and local media.

Two dealers have already been announced: the Via Italia Group in Brazil and Williamson Balfour Motors in Chile.

Speaking in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Muller said: “Brazil and Chile have seen impressive economic growth, with an increasing demand from discerning customers for pinnacle luxury products. Rolls-Royce is growing very successfully in a number of fast-growing emerging markets and it is therefore appropriate that we have a strong presence in Brazil and Chile.”

No word yet when the first cars will arrive but expect it to happen before the year is out.

The news comes at a time when Rolls-Royce’s sales are up some 41 percent over 2010’s year-to-date figures, and order books are filled well into 2012.

This year has certainly been an interesting one for the automaker, with the British marque having recently celebrated its heritage with the centenary of the Spirit of Ecstasy, launched its new Provenance certified pre-owned vehicle program, and demonstrated its innovation with the 102EX electric Phantom prototype that’s currently on a worldwide tour.
