SSC, as many readers may already know, was founded by a man who just so happens to share his last name with legendary American racing driver and Ford-tuner Carroll Shelby.
However, now SCC’s founder, Jerod Shelby (pictured above), has officially dropped his name from his supercar business.
In an official statement, Shelby said, “After several months of successfully launching our new corporate name and solidifying further International brand awareness for SSC at the Dubai International Motor Show and Top Marques in Macau, it was the right time to officially announce our name change.”
Shelby admits that from time to time he and his associates are asked whether they are connected in any way with Carroll Shelby. He hopes the name change will now prevent fans, old and new, from making that mistake.
SSC’s latest project is the new Jason Castriota-designed Tuatara supercar, which will start production this year in West Richland, Washington, and potentially eclipse the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s world record top speed of 268 mph.
