Animosity between Australian performance brands Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) and Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) won’t be helped by the unveilings at the 2011 Australian Motor Show, which kicks off today in the city of Melbourne.

We already saw the sinister FPV concept car packing a supercharged 5.0-liter Boss V-8, but now HSV, the official in-house tuner of Holden, has retaliated with its own range of SV Black Edition models based on its Maloo R8 ute, Clubsport R8 sedan and Clubsport R8 Tourer wagon.

Essentially a special edition model with unique badging and features, the SV Black Edition will be limited to 225 units in total (100 sedans, 100 utes and 25 wagons) and goes on sale in Australia this September.

Special features include matte black trim, unique hood scoops and side vents, 20-inch forged alloy wheels and a subtle lip spoiler. Inside, there’s Black Edition labeling on the center console, full leather trim and custom door sills.

Sadly, no power upgrades have been included though we’d be more than happy to have this rear-wheel drive trio complete with their six-speed manual transmissions and 425 horsepower 6.2-liter V-8 engines on local soil--just leave the overstyled bodykits at home please.
