According to a report in Automobile, the 2013 Ford Mustang may receive a performance gauge package, similar to what's offered in Chrysler's SRT products.

For those that don't know, performance gauges can measure 0-60 times, quarter-mile times, handling G forces, and all sorts of other data. For example, the 2012 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 SRT8 can show you how much horsepower and torque are being produced at a given time.

The initial report comes from StangTV, which is saying that the screen would be a 4.2-inch unit and fit between the speedometer and the tachometer in the car's instrument cluster.

A dealer training brochure seems to indicate that bits of data being measured would include air/fuel ratio, oil pressure, transmission temperature, coolant temperature, and more.

This strikes us as a long overdue idea for most performance cars, and those who take their Mustangs to the track will appreciate the extra input. Being able to see this much data about what's going in isn't just useful, but fun, and it's one more reason people pony up extra cash to buy these kinds of cars.
